our_Campus_2_622x415With nearly 20,000 credit-earning students and over 60,000 more in non-credit and adult education programs, as well nearly 3,000 faculty and staff, LaGuardia Community College is a strong community of teachers, learners, and innovators who dare to do more. Founded in 1971 as the experimental CUNY community college with a commitment to provide a high-quality education to all, today LaGuardia is one of the 18 undergraduate colleges that make up the City University of New York. Located at a transit hub in the thriving Long Island City area of western Queens, the city’s most ethnically diverse borough, LaGuardia provides access to higher education and serves New Yorkers of all backgrounds, ages, and means.

To meet these goals, and to prepare students for either further study or entry into a profession, the College has created a variety of academic programs with over 50 majors in the areas of Business and Technology, Liberal Arts, and Health,  Mathematics, and Sciences. Our programs lead to the Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS), and Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees. A long-time innovator in education, LaGuardia has a long history of leading educational reform in areas such as cooperative education, learning communities, and today, ePortfolio.

At LaGuardia, we’ve developed a robust campus culture of professional development and challenge faculty and staff to ask the same “What if?” questions. By offering continual opportunities to develop new skills and explore new knowledge, we strive to cultivate an environment where everyone is committed to learning in the service of common goals for our students, our community, and our city.
